Each year, our Hero Awards Benefit pays tribute to an extraordinary group of real-life heroes who were previously honored and funded by World of Children. These individuals have shown measurable outcomes and leveraged their recognition and original grant funds to deliver an even more profound impact on vulnerable children.
On Thursday, April 25, 2019, nearly 200 supporters and friends came together to raise more than $350,000 to support our Honorees high-impact programs around the world. Together, we will change the future for orphaned children who have been impacted by the trauma of war and conflict; blind, deaf or visually impaired children who long for a chance to go to school; children in the midst of upheaval as they flee the dangers of their home country; and children who may be differently abled, but still deserving of a life filled with hope and happiness.
Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate our 2019 Honorees. You are a hero!
We are thrilled to announce that Lysa and Grant Heslov will be recognized at our 2019 Hero Awards Benefit with the prestigious Advocacy Award.
10 years ago, Lysa founded Children Mending Hearts, a Los Angeles-based organization that combats bullying and intolerance by inspiring empathy in children through art and service-learning programs.

World of Children unlocks the future for vulnerable children by funding, elevating and educating the most effective changemakers worldwide.
Since 1998, the organization has dedicated nearly $14 million to high-impact programs for children, led by nearly 120 Honorees working in over 60 countries.
On April 19, 2018, we honored three previous World of Children Honorees and awarded our second annual Crisis Award in partnership with UNICEF USA.
Together, we changed the future for children in refugee camps; children who have been bullied; children longing for an education; and children in need of basic necessities and medical care.
